Passion Leads to Action - By Sarah

With the idea that Passion leads to Action, we started our discussion about what needs to be done:
Solutions can be divided into two types:
Temporary solutions - "Band Aids"
Permanent solutions - no more deficit, no more debt...

What are the affects of no education?
How will the lack of education for someone else affect you?

Temporary solutions

• Cut work hours


• Use money from the Rainy day fund


• Raise money


• Cut supplies we use


• Inventory supplies we already have in schools


• parents could pay money(if they have the money)


• Have a four day week


• school supplies drive - adopt a school (Tijerina?)


• Sell kitchen equipment that we don`t use


• Ask other schools to help support schools in need

Overall we recognize how fortunate we are at Mark Twain and understand that not all schools are doing as well as we do. We were able to raise over $60,000 for our school because we have a strong PTO. We would like to adopt a school in need, find out what they need the most and have a supply drive in our school benefiting the other school. We need to do research and locate a school in need, as well as learn what they need.

Can we make a difference????

If the 20 of us get 20 people to do what we do, then....what if they get more to follow ........and more.................and so on till we make a difference, because we can. By setting up an example of one school helping another, we hope to create a CHANGE.

What could be permanent solution?
